Fruity white wine with a delicately spicy bouquet

Calardis Blanc combines various resistances to powdery and downy mildew as well as black rot with excellent cultivation characteristics. Its upright growth and loose berry structure make it a very user-friendly grape variety. It is striking that the Calardis Blanc grapes were hardly damaged by sunburn even in very dry and hot years.

The wine has a finesse-rich aroma of passion fruit, blood orange and freshly cut apple paired with a delicate, finely spiced bouquet and is characterised by a tangy acidity, which also makes it suitable as a sparkling base wine.

As the variety has a moderate tendency to form double shoots and stingy shoots, thinning out may be necessary. A special feature of the variety is the muscat-like colouring of the unshaded berries, while the back of the grape often remains yellow-green despite ripeness.
